The etc. lab RAs did an incredible job presenting their work at the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Symposium. 

The etc. lab RAs had a strong beginning to the Winter quarter by planning their research projects. These projects included understanding the role of persuasive texts on visual memory, procrastination and time-perspective, using AI to reduce math anxiety, and ethical issues surrounding using AI in collaborative team settings.

Emi Cervantes presented her research using causal inference models to examine the relationship between mind wandering and math anxiety in college students. She is now a PhD student in statistics at Penn State.

Trish Ly presented her research examining cognitive indicators of expertise in Esports. Using the 2023 Overwatch League data, she examined how scoping accuracy (an indicator of mind-muscle connection) differed between pro and amateur players. Way to go, Trish!

Dr. Fernando Rodriguez led an introduction to R workshop, which was open to all School of Education and Psychological Science undergraduate and graduate students. The graduate student strike cut out training short, unfortunately. But it was still 4 weeks of fun!

The etc. lab RAs presented the results of their independent research projects at two university research symposiums, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Symposium and the Working Memory Plasticity (WMP) Lab Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Dr. Fernando Rodriguez and Dr. Hye Rin Lee led an online training on using R to process clickstream data at the 2022 Learning Analytics and Knowledge (LAK) conference. This training was attended by graduate students, industry researchers, and faculty from across the globe.
